Our family has had the joy of using Voyageur outfitters for three separate boundary water trips giving us three
most awesome experiences!
Residing in Colorado the biggest hassles for our family organizing a multi-day BWCA trip are permitting, canoe
rentals, paddling instruction and tips, drop offs and pickups, lodging pre / post trip, and menu planning. Matt,
Cassidy the managers / owners and the Voyageur crew expertly alleviate all these issues. Our family has been
able show up and start our adventure without extra time and energy spent navigating all these logistics. We
have no doubt that without Voyageur’s crew we would have never fully discovered the beauty of BWCA, and
absolutely recommend Voyageur outfitter to anyone thinking about taking BWCA/ Quetico canoe trip. We

can’t wait to return to Voyageur for our next summers adventure!

Just got home in Arkansas, and wanted to thank you again for all of your help. As I mentioned to you in person, I was impressed from the beginning with your and Matt’s professionalism in not only handling the initial booking and the numerous initial questions I had related to it (Matt), but it continued with the quick email responses you made to not only my questions, but correcting the problem of my booking on the wrong date. Even though both John and I had to face our newly discovered limitations, at your urging we had plenty of active non water activities that made our short stay most enjoyable. I was also impressed with the friendly and helpful attitude of your staff. Obviously, you and Matt do a great job in their screening and training. Rest assured both John and I will highly recommend your company to anyone looking for adventure at the end of the Gunflint Trail.

Not Enough Circles for the appropriate rating!

Sorry for the strange title of this review, but it really is correct. The staff at Voyageur do such a great job that a “5” rating is not enough. I would recommend this outfitter to absolutely anyone, from the first time paddler to the seasoned canoe with decades of trips. They know what they are doing, they are super efficient, and above all as friendly a group of people as we have ever dealt with. There is a genuine tone in the voices of the staff when they ask if there is anything else that can help with. Not just the made up “Customer service” voice, but a voice of someone who is going to make sure you had the best experience possible. Impressive.

We stayed in one of the bunkhouses. These are small one room buildings with bunkbeds. Clean and basic. The camp restrooms and showers and located next door. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and checked regularly for cleanliness.

The lodge has a pancake with sausage breakfast available. Well prepared with all you care to eat before setting out on your trip, friendly conversation with staff an added bonus.

We used the tow boat service to access and return from American Point for our trip, both drivers could not have been more helpful and professional. They worked quickly, and efficiently. Were we loaded and on time on the way out and the driver was even early for our “tow” back to the base.

I can not say enough good things about all of the staff we dealt with. From the start this past winter planning on the phone, to the outfitting, to the lodge, to the tow boats, to everyone, this is a well oiled machine with smiling faces.

One more thing. Voyageur also operates an excellent brewpub in Grand Marais. So when you finish your trip and drive back to civilization they will welcome you back with great beer

Thank you for the hand written thank you post card.  In all my years of using outfitters this is the first time I ever got a hand written thank you.  Thank you for the write up on your web site about Cherry Lake.  We thoroughly enjoyed our time on this lake.  All your employees we had contact with were so nice.  We especially remember the super friendly lady from Iowa who served us breakfast and our tow boat captain.  We hope to see you again.

Thanks so much for the excellent fishing trip we just completed—one of the best ever and we have been coming to Saganaga for 18 years!!! Your facilities are outstanding, your staff very helpful, friendly, and customer oriented, and your service excellent. Thanks also for completing the new dock on the Sag side which helped our night fishing greatly. No complaints whatsoever.

Thanks again for an outstanding experience!!!

My son and I were guest of yours a few weeks ago.  We spent the night before we got on the water in one of the bunk houses then 4 days 3 nights camping then another night in a bunk house.  From the moment we arrived we both felt welcomed and appreciated.  Everyone had a smile and was extremely helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a better route then what Matt suggested. Unbelievable beauty, better fishing than I ever dreamed of.  We caught over 200 smallmouth in 4 days.  Thanks to all of you for making this the trip of a lifetime.  We will be back.

We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone we came into contact with at Voyageurs and especially Jay, thank you Jay.  Neither of us have used outfitters before and had no idea what to expect. We arrived late after business hours, it was dark and we weren’t sure what we were doing, earlier in the day however we placed a call to check in and told them we would be late.

When we arrived, our bunkhouse had a placard with our name on it that said welcome, when we stepped inside it was very clean, and the staff had placed our sleeping bags inside for us. All we had to do after our long journey to Voyageurs was to slide inside of our bags and fall asleep.

In the morning we a wonderful breakfast before checking in at the counter, then Jay took us to processing where he explained AND asked questions to ensure that we knew what the plan was, what to expect of our time and the equipment they provided us. He was gracious and informative in giving us detailed information on different campsites throughout the area, and he was spot on.

We got to the dock where our equipment and canoe was waiting for us and hopped in and paddled away. We couldn’t have enjoyed our trip any more than we did; breathtaking, incredible, moving and surreal are only a few words we can think of to describe our experience in the boundary waters and with Voyageurs.

Upon our arrival back at Voyageurs at the unfortunate end of our trip our car was waiting at the dock for us, we gathered our things and said goodbye and thank you and were on our way home only too soon.

Thank you so very much for a really unbelievable experience, we couldn’t have asked for anything more and Voyageurs has secured a special place in our memories.

I was up there the end of July and went out with a friend on a canoe trip.   When we were packing up the car I was getting ready to carry my canoe from your rack to the car.  I was kind of standing there figuring out how I was going to maneuver around the rack when the big dude with a beard (he is dead center in your crew picture) came over and asked if he could do it for me.  I took him up on the offer as I am not great on rocks in sandals.

His doing that without being asked is one of the reasons why Voyageurs is so successful.  He not only helped but was cognizant of the fact that I could use the help.  He took it to the next level.

Keep up the good work and see you next year.  Hopefully it won’t be quite as windy as it was this year.

Thanks
