We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone we came into contact with at Voyageurs and especially Jay, thank you Jay. Neither of us have used outfitters before and had no idea what to expect. We arrived late after business hours, it was dark and we weren’t sure what we were doing, earlier in the day however we placed a call to check in and told them we would be late.
When we arrived, our bunkhouse had a placard with our name on it that said welcome, when we stepped inside it was very clean, and the staff had placed our sleeping bags inside for us. All we had to do after our long journey to Voyageurs was to slide inside of our bags and fall asleep.
In the morning we a wonderful breakfast before checking in at the counter, then Jay took us to processing where he explained AND asked questions to ensure that we knew what the plan was, what to expect of our time and the equipment they provided us. He was gracious and informative in giving us detailed information on different campsites throughout the area, and he was spot on.
We got to the dock where our equipment and canoe was waiting for us and hopped in and paddled away. We couldn’t have enjoyed our trip any more than we did; breathtaking, incredible, moving and surreal are only a few words we can think of to describe our experience in the boundary waters and with Voyageurs.
Upon our arrival back at Voyageurs at the unfortunate end of our trip our car was waiting at the dock for us, we gathered our things and said goodbye and thank you and were on our way home only too soon.
Thank you so very much for a really unbelievable experience, we couldn’t have asked for anything more and Voyageurs has secured a special place in our memories.

I was up there the end of July and went out with a friend on a canoe trip. When we were packing up the car I was getting ready to carry my canoe from your rack to the car. I was kind of standing there figuring out how I was going to maneuver around the rack when the big dude with a beard (he is dead center in your crew picture) came over and asked if he could do it for me. I took him up on the offer as I am not great on rocks in sandals.
His doing that without being asked is one of the reasons why Voyageurs is so successful. He not only helped but was cognizant of the fact that I could use the help. He took it to the next level.
Keep up the good work and see you next year. Hopefully it won’t be quite as windy as it was this year.
Bill and I have just returned back from a terrific trip to the Boundary Waters. It had been years since I had been on a canoe trip, and my husband had hardly even been in a canoe! So, we were very excited for our adventure in the North Woods. Voyageur Outfitters came highly recommended from a friend living in the Twin Cities area. We weren’t disappointed! Due to our lack of experience, we opted to stay in a cabin for a few days and do day trips; only venturing out into the wilderness the final day for an overnight camp out. From start to finish, the crew exceeded our expectations. All crew members were enthusiastic, informative, and genuinely concerned with our enjoyment and safety. We were given lots of advice on routing, both for our day trips and the overnight. This group truly loves the wilderness and their job! I hope to see all of them again. I hesitate to mention names because they were all outstanding. But, I guess I have to give a special shout-out to the girls: Kyra, Abigail, and Hannah. They were the best!
We didn’t see an bears or moose – but the LOONS!!! We were thoroughly captivated by their calls! One evening, we heard them do their dance – unforgettable!
Mike and Sue are running a great operation. We hope to be back next year!

We over-came a strong wind in the Boundary Waters our first day on the water, but found a great BWCA campsite!
VCO does a really good outfitting job. First, the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable about the areas reachable from their location. Second, the little camper cabins are clean and a great night-before place to stay. Not as comfortable as a motel in Grand Marais would be, but breakfast is included and a Weber grill and picnic table are provided. Sort of eases you into camping. Third, the location allows trips entirely without portages on Saganaga, entries into the Quetico, both of which I might do in the future, and conventional small lake portage BWCA paddling & camping. All is beautiful. VCO will also boat you to the west end of Sag. to shave a couple hours off the paddling to the small lake area. It costs $50/person each way, so the value isn’t really great. We found terrific campsites on Ester Lake (small peaceful lake 4 portages in) and on Sag. The sound of the motorboats on Sag. isn’t ideal, but wasn’t unbearable for one night and our last-night out campsite was pretty close to the bases. Be sure to check out the equipment provided carefully. We were given a Thermarest that was labeled “Full length” that was only 3/4. Otherwise, the gear was good. the Granite Gear packs were especially good, but the $3 each heavy duty bag liners we brought were much better than just the basic garbage bags provided.

Don’t even know where to begin shy of saying THANK YOU Voyageur Canoe Outfitters!!!!
This was my 1st trip to the Boundary Waters and one that I had been looking forward to for 5 years. When my son was turning 8 I told him that when he was turning 13 we would do a week long BWCA trip together. Knowing very well that once he hits the “Fume Years” (Gas Fumes and Perfumes) that he may have other priorities.
The BWCA trip was perfect. The staff at Voyageur’s was outstanding (especially Mike), the bunk house the night before departure was comfy, the canoe was outstanding and the food way better than what I would have packed. We covered 18 Lakes, 20 Portages and had a little bit of everything on this Boundary Waters trip: Canoeing in the rain for about an hour, Sunny weather, calm winds, gusty winds, a storm at night, great fishing (my son caught his 1st Smallmouth and 1st Northern) and just about everything else I could have wanted out of the trip.
I have already begun recommending Voyageurs to my friends in the Las Vegas Canoe Club and really looking forward to doing the trip with my 9 year old in a few years.
Thanks again everyone, you have helped create outstanding memories that both my son and I will have for the rest of our lives.

It was a four day BWCA voyage that created memories that will last a life time. Friendship Ventures journeyed into the BWCA with 10 boys ages 13-16 years old. Divided into two teams we conquered choppy water, freezing rain, blistering sun, and heavy packs. This trip was a platform for these boys to realize and awaken their true potential. I saw my campers amazed by the wonders of the outdoors, wearing an “AH HA” on their face after every discovery of something new. I watched them stand on the edge of fear as they built the confidence to take a leap, After the water rushes over them revealing the things they afraid of are not so bad. I witnessed the power of empathy and selflessness on portages when someone took on the personal responsible to help out another that was struggling. This Boundary Waters trip was a wonderful experience and Voyageur Canoe Outfitter helped use make it happen. A big thanks to all the staff at Voyageur.

We loved our trip. Most of our crew had been customers of Superior North for many years and they were really impressed with Voyageur’s outfit. Our tow boat was on schedule and the drivers didn’t complain or make fun of the amount of gear we brought…. it was a lot! The rental canoes were awesome… I don’t think we’ll ever drag our canoes 1000 miles again… Lastly, the place is nice, the staff is nice, and my crew was MOST impressed with the pancakes!! The woman cooking and serving was so gracious…
We took a late August Boundary Waters trip and Voyageur made it absolutely wonderful. Many of our group had never been on a trip before, and their first ended up being an unforgettable one. As usual, the Voyageur staff was top notch, and made our trip logistics easy and smooth. I’m determined to make sure its not too long until I get up there again.

My paddling buddy and I had another great stay at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters and a great trip to the Quetico Park. My paddIing buddy and I caught fish in the Quetico and appreciate all of the help the people at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters provided us for our canoe trip.
