QUETICO PARK FLY-IN CANOE TRIPS

Voyageur Canoe Outfitters has the perfect location for a fly-in trip into the Quetico Park located in Ontario, Canada. We can provide everything you need for a fly-in fishing or camping adventure of a lifetime.

A fly-in canoe trip is an excellent way for advanced canoe campers to paddle the vast wilderness of the Quetico Park. A float plane will drop you off on the edge of the Quetico and then you will paddle your way back through the Quetico Park and Minnesota’s Boundary Waters where you may be picked up by our towboat service and brought back to Voyageur Canoe Outfitters.

To All Fly-in Guests
Your party members must each have a Remote Access Border Crossing Permit to enter into Canada. These permits cost $30.00 per permit and must be obtained prior to your trip. They should be applied for via application, at least one month in advance. Upon making a reservation for a trip into Canada, we will send you the necessary forms for you to photocopy and distribute to the members of your group. You are responsible for filling out the necessary information and sending the application and form of payment to the proper authorities.

You will need to give us the name and ages of the persons traveling in your group as well as the number of nights you will be spending in the wilderness. We must also have your confirmation number of your Quetico Park permit, if you reserved the permit yourself. The pilot will pick up your Quetico Permit and overnight camping permits for you. Canadian Fishing Licenses can be purchased  online.

Voyageur’s Featured Trip: Clay Lake (Mack 23) to Saganaga Lake
This trip starts out with a tow boat ride from Voyageur Canoe Outfitters to the middle of Saganaga Lake to meet the Canadian flight service. There you load and take off for Clay Lake, which is 30 minutes North. After unloading on Clay you’ll paddle west, winding yourself through the Greenwood Creek and the Wawiag River. This leads you to the magnificent Kawnipi Lake. After Kawnipi Lake comes a series of waterfalls known as the Falls Chain.  The Saganagons is next and then Silver Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the Park. Next, paddle across Cache Bay but do not forget to see the pictographs! During your final stretch, paddle around Cache Point to Hook Island where we will meet you with a towboat. This trip is a minimum of 24 hours of paddling (three, eight-hour days). We recommend at least a 5 day trip or longer to enjoy the scenery and fishing.

* Due to bad weather the float plane may not be able to pick your group up on the originally scheduled time and day…   This is why we recommend a fly-in paddle out trip and not a round trip flight.

** Tip – Avoid starting on Saturday because the flight service is busy flying customers to fly-in camps and it is difficult to get morning flights.
*** Tip – Try flying out in the afternoon and camping on Clay Lake and then paddle first thing in the morning.
